Crime Stoppers is a program designed to combine the efforts of law enforcement, media, and citizens in the fight against crime. The program offers cash rewards of up to $1,000 to citizens who provide anonymous tips leading to the apprehension and indictment of fugitives.
Callers may phone at any time to the Crime Stoppers' office at 419-229-STOP. When a call is received, a Lima Allen County Crime Stopper staff member will fill out a fact sheet with the information and assign an identification number to the caller. The identity of all callers will remain anonymous in all cases; no name or address is required. There is no caller ID. Each week an unsolved crime, and photos of wanted criminals are selected for the media as "Crime of the Week" and "Most Wanted." All services of television, radio and newspaper are donated.
A Crime Stoppers Board of Directors, composed of citizens from all areas of the community, oversees the program's operations and determines the amount of rewards.
Crime Stoppers is a nonprofit organization funded entirely through tax deductible donations from the public.
Citizens with information about any crime are requested to call Crime Stoppers at 419-229-STOP. The caller is assured anonymity by using this method.
